Six Gay-Friendly Hotels and Hotel Chains in the United States
When a same-sex couple decides to get married, chances are at least some guests will be in same-sex relationships themselves. If your friends and family come from out of town, you want them to feel comfortable during their stay. The best way to do this is to book your wedding guests in one of the following gay-friendly hotels or hotel chains.
Kimpton Hotels
Rated at 100 percent by the Human Rights Campaign Equality Index four years in a row for being a gay-friendly employer, Kimpton Hotels extends that same attitude to all of its guests. The hotel chain donates to gay charities and advertises in gay-friendly media outlets. It also provides discounts for people who attend Pride in New York City. The company was founded in San Francisco more than 30 years ago and has always had strong ties to the LGBTQ community.
The Out NYC
If your LGBTQ wedding guests like the idea of an urban resort, they’ll love The Out NYC. The first gay urban resort in New York City, the hotel caters not only to travelers, but also to the local gay community. When your guests aren’t in their rooms, they’ll want to check out some of the resort’s other attractions.

The Out NYC understands that its guests have a wide variety of budgets. It strives to provide packages to suit nearly every budget. Choose a one-bedroom suite for you and your partner or have guests bunk together in luxury quad rooms.
Hyatt Hotels
In addition to having a perfect score from the Human Rights Campaign, Hyatt Hotels won the Travel Award for Best Hotels for LGBT Travelers from PlanetOut in 2006. The hotels, which also help to sponsor the GLAAD Media Awards, include more than 600 properties all around the world. Most offer luxury accommodations such as presidential suites, beachside resorts, fitness rooms, event spaces, spas and restaurants.
Lords South Beach
Located in Miami Beach, Lords South Beach is an LGBTQ-only boutique hotel where friends and family members in same-sex relationships are sure to feel comfortable. The hotel’s range of bedrooms are all uniquely decorated and include such amenities as flat-screen televisions and room service. When your guests aren’t checking out the white sands and beautiful blue waters of the beach, they’ll want to take a dip in the hotel’s swimming pool or visit each of its two art deco bars.
W Hotels
W Hotels has long been on the side of same-sex couples, and it shows in everything the company does. In addition to using inclusive wording in ad campaigns and creating innovative marketing campaigns for LGBTQ people, the hotel chain strives to create unique packages catered specifically to LGBTQ guests. The Pride 365 package includes accommodations as well as cocktails and other extras. Each of the contemporary and luxury W Hotels includes such luxuries as entertainment lounges and gourmet restaurants.
The Garden Manor
Garden Manor offers historical elegance in a comfortable and convenient location in Columbus, Ohio. Built in 1895, the small residence is listed on the Columbus Register of Historic Properties. Hosts Allen Baker and Al Waddell purchased the manor in March 2003. They have renovated most of the interior and exterior, including the original pond and 60-foot terrace. It’s perfect for small wedding ceremonies if you hold your event at the same location you book for your guests.
Regardless of whether you have a large or small guest list or whether you need a hotel that is for all types of couples or only same-sex couples, there is sure to be something on this list to meet your needs. If you aren’t getting married in an area served by any of these hotels, do your research to ensure you find gay-friendly accommodations so your guests have a good time.
